KSMO and back to KBFI

Eugene, OR -> Eureka, CA. Today I was able to make a little more progress, but I was still met with substantial headwind. The coast was treacherous, but a little less turbulent than the mountains. I made two stops. In Bandon, OR, a lone mechanic with a cluttered shop brewed me coffee. In Crescent City, a quiet office allowed me time to snack and plan the last stretch. In Eureka, a lone gas station attendant hurriedly gave recommendations and talked weather. An old man fueled his war bird after I was topped off. All along the way, small airstrips are staffed with secluded workers waiting for the next traveler to pass through.

Eureka (KEKA) -> San Fransisco (KSQL) -> Santa Monica (KSMO). I finally made it to my destination. The area between San Francisco and LA was easy to fly through, while Northern California was a bit more challenging. Thanks @im.an.a for hospitality in San Fran. Now, to relax on the beach for a day, and hopefully beat the weather on the way back.

Watsonville, CA (KWVI) -> Portland (KHIO). I spent another night in a small town yesterday, after trying to wait out the San Francisco fog. I woke up early to find clear skies all up the coast. So I hopped in the plane and flew as far as I could. Strong tailwinds allowed me to make it as far as Portland before nightfall. Overall I clocked 6 hours and 40 minutes in the air today. What a trip!
